General Gaming

Gaming Resources

BoardGameGeek is the most comprehensive database for boardgames on the web. Also has a thriving community to discuss rules, variants and practically anything else.

Local(ish) Conventions

UK Games Expo: Since 2007, this has been the major UK event in terms of many different types of games, including board games. Held in May/June at the Hilton Metropole at the NEC, the main Saturday and Sunday are mainly concerned with trade stands, although there is room for open gaming, both before and during the show, also in the evenings. Since 2013 HBG has organised boardgames tournaments at this show.

Beer & Pretzels: Held in Burton in May, organised by Spirit Games, this is a 2 day event, where the main concern is playing games, there is sizeable games library.

Manorcon: Held in July, a weekend of playing games, held at the University of Leicester. There is usually a good second hand games sale.

Midcon: Held in November in Derby, usually our first chance to play many of the new games released at Essen, the previous month. Again this is a games playing convention.
